Antique Gray Stoneware Canning Jar with Lid and Bail Weir Lid Primitive Farmhouse Crock
This stoneware canning jar is 7" tall with the lid and 4.5" in diameter. It is a gray stoneware piece, and has a lid and bail. The opening at the top is " in diameter. The lid is marked: No 2. THE WIER PAT MAR 1st 92 APRIL 16 1901. The lid appears to be original to the base, although I am not certain of this - they are slightly different colors. The jar itself is not marked.
The jar is in very nice condition for it's age. There is one nick in the base of the piece, and some small nicks/chips around the rim as shown in the last photo. There is crazing in the glaze on the lid. The metal bail is quite rusty, but still functions. Great old stoneware canning jar!
